The Users section allows you to invite one or more users or accountants and grant them full or partial access to your business. You can withdraw and restore access or remove access permanently anytime.
The Users section allows you to do the following:
- Granting Business Access to a User
- Granting Business Access to an Accountant
- Updating Access Permissions
- Removing a User
- Revoking User Access
- Providing Support Access to your Business
To manage the users, you need to first move to the Settings page. Your account may have a single or multiple businesses. The steps to move to the Settings page are different in each case. The steps for each case are given below.
The user interfaces in 2019 and that prior 2019 are different. So, the steps are shown for both 2019 and prior 2019. |
Prior 2019
1. Log in to Surf Payroll.
2. The Dashboard page appears. On the left panel, click Settings.
1. Log in to Surf Payroll and find the required Business.
2. The Employees page appears. On the left panel, click Settings.
Now that you are on the Settings page, complete the following steps, as required.
Granting Business Access to a User
1. On the Settings page, under the BUSINESS heading, click Users.
2. The User Access page appears. On the User Access page, click Invite User.
3. The Invite User window appears. On the Invite User window, enter the details as required and click Save.
4. The invited user receives an email requesting confirmation. Upon confirmation, the invited user is granted access to Surf Payroll, as shown by the status Active.
Granting Business Access to an Accountant
You can provide access to an accountant to manage your business. Before invitation, the accountant needs to be signed up as an accountant with Surf Payroll. You can withdraw and restore or permanently remove access the accountant any time. However, if the accountant performs any transaction such as raising an invoice, you are not allowed to remove the accountant's access.
Signing up as Accountant
1. From the Surf Payroll website, click the link to sign up as an accountant.
2. The My Details page appears. Enter the required details and click Sign Up.
3. You are signed up as accountant.
4. Log in and the following page appears.
Invite Accountant
1. On the Settings page, under the BUSINESS heading, click Users.
2. The User Access page appears. Click Invite Accountant.
3. The Invite Accountant window appears. Enter the details as required and click Save.
4. The accountant is successfully invited, as shown below.
5. To verify, login as accountant again and see if the business is accessible.
Updating Access Permissions
1. On the Settings page, under the BUSINESS heading, click Users.
2. The User Access page appears. On the User Access page, under the Email heading, click the user email.
3. The Permissions window appears. On the Permissions window, update the access privileges, as required and click Save.
Removing a User
1. On the Settings page, under the BUSINESS heading, click Users.
2. The User Access page appears. On the User Access page, corresponding to the required user, click and from the inline menu, click Remove.
3. The Confirmation Message window appears. On the Confirmation Message, click Delete.
4. The Information Message window appears. Click OK.
2019

1. From the Surf Payroll website, click the link to sign up as an accountant.
2. The My Details page appears. Enter the required details and click Sign Up.
3. You are signed up as accountant.
4. Log in and the following page appears.
Invite Accountant
1. On the Settings page, under the BUSINESS heading, click Users.
2. The User Access page appears. Click Invite Accountant.
3. The Invite User window appears. Enter the details as shown in the image below and click Save.
4. The accountant is successfully invited.
5. To verify, login as accountant again and see if the business is accessible.
Updating Access Permissions
1. On the Settings page, under the BUSINESS heading, click Users.
2. The User Access page appears. On the User Access page, under the Email heading, click the user email.
3. The Permissions window appears. On the Permissions window, update the access privileges, as required and click Save.
Removing a User
1. On the Settings page, under the BUSINESS heading, click Users.
2. The User Access page appears. On the User Access page, corresponding to the required user, click and from the inline menu, click Remove.
3. The Confirmation Message window appears. On the Confirmation Message, click Delete.
4. The Information Message window appears. Click OK.
Revoking User Access
1. On the Settings page, under the BUSINESS heading, click Users.
2. The User Access page appears. On the User Access page, corresponding to the required user, click and from the inline menu, click Close.
3. The Confirmation Message window appears. Click Close.
4. The Information Message window confirms the user access revocation. The user now no longer has access to the business.
5. To restore access, on the User Access page, click and from the inline menu, click Open.
Providing Support Access to your Business
1. On the USER ACCESS page, click Support.
2. To confirm, on the Confirmation Message window, click OK.
3. The support is successfully invited.
4. Optional. To close or remove access, click and click the appropriate option.
