The product settings allow you to set up various aspects of the products the business sells such as product details and category, price and stock set up. The Product settings can be divided into the following sections.

• Product
• Product Category

Product

You can set up details such as product name and description, selling and purchase price, VAT and Intrastat, if applicable. To set up product, complete the steps below.

1. Log in to Surf Accounts. The Business page appears.
2. On the Business page, locate the required business by completing either of the following steps.
   • In the Search box on the top right corner, enter the name of the business fully or partially and click . The business summary will appear under the Select an Business heading.
   • The business summary is available under the Select an Business heading. If you cannot find it, at the bottom-right corner of the page, click 100 to increase the number of records to be displayed on the page. The business summary will be available under the Select an Business heading.
3. Under the Select an Business heading, click the name of the business. The Customers page appears.
4. On the Customers page, in the left panel, click Settings. The Settings page appears.
5. On the Settings page, under the PRODUCTS & STOCK heading, click Products. The Products page appears.
6. On the Products page, click [Add Product]. The New Product page appears.
7. On the New Product page, enter the following details.
8. To save the details entered, click [Save]. The new product details appear on the Products page.

PRODUCT DETAILS
PRODUCT CATEGORY	Product categories are defined separately. To select a product category, click and from the Product Category window, select the product category.
PRODUCT CODE	Enter a unique product code.
PRODUCT LOCATION	Enter the location of the product.
BAR CODE NUMBER	Enter the product bar code number.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION	Enter a brief description or product name. This description will appear under the Description column of the Products page.
PRODUCT IMAGE	Upload an image of the product.

SALES PRICE	Enter the sales price of the product.
PURCHASE PRICE	Enter the purchase price of the product.
MARKUP %	Enter the required value.
SALES NOMINAL CODE	To select the required value, click and from the Nominal Code window, select the nominal coder.
PURCHASE NOMINAL CODE	To select the required value, click and from the Nominal Code window, select the nominal coder.
SALES VAT RATE	Select the applicable VAT rate on the product. The VAT rates can be configured.
PURCHASE VAT RATE	Select the purchase VAT rate on the product. The VAT rates can be configured.
Automatic Currency Rates	Select if you want Surf Accounts to apply the currency rates automatically.
LANDED COST	Enter the required value.
LANDED MARKUP %	Enter the required value.
INTRASTAT DETAILS tab
Exclude from Intrastat	Select if your products or goods are exchanged across EU states and the total volume of sales is within the exemption limit.
COMMODITY CODE	Enter the required value.
NET MASS	Enter the required value.
SUPPLEMENTAL UNITS	Enter the required value.
Show Popup Notification in Transaction	Select if applicable.
ADD A NOTE TO THE PRODUCT	Provide additional information for the product, if required.

1. To save the details entered, click [Save]. The new product details appear on the Products page.

Product Category

You can group products or goods sold by businesses under user-defined categories for convenience. You can also modify or delete product categories.

Creating Product Category

To create a Product Category, complete the following steps.

1. Complete steps 1 to 4 of Product.
2. On the Settings page, click Product Categories. The Product Category window appears.
3. On the Product Category window, click [Add]. The Add Product Category window appears.
4. On the Add Product Category window, in the Add Category box, enter the Product category name and click [Save]. The product category is created.

Edit Product Category

When you edit a category that already has one or more products grouped under it, such product categories are updated. When you edit such categories, Surf Accounts needs your confirmation before applying the changes. To edit a product category, complete the following steps.

1. Complete steps 1 to 4 of Product.
2. On the Settings page, click Product Categories. The Product Category window appears.
3. On the Product Category window, click select the required product category and click [Edit]. The Edit Product Category window appears.
   
4. On the Edit Product Category window, modify the category and click [Save]. The category is edited.

If the category is in use, Surf Accounts requires your confirmation before editing the category.

Removing a Category

You are not allowed to remove a category already in use. To remove a category, complete the following steps.

1. Complete steps 1 to 4 of Product.
2. On the Settings page, click Product Categories. The Product Category window appears.
3. On the Product Category window, select the required product category and click [Delete]. The Confirmation Message window appears. On the window, click [Yes].

If the category is in use, you are not allowed to remove it.
