If you are reading this topic, we assume you have already connected Dext Prepare with Surf Accounts Production. If not, please read Connecting Dext Prepare with Surf Accounts first. Surf Accounts Production has now introduced the process that lets both Bookkeeping and Non-Bookkeeping clients use Dext prepare and its functionalities. The Dext prepare now lets the user create and view published bank feeds and make the necessary and regular changes as required. The categorization is done for:
You can also access the Bank Feeds on Surf Accounts Production once it is set.
Note that the integration is available until you manually disconnect it. The steps are given on this topic below.
Accessing Feeds on Surf Accounts Production
To access the feeds on Surf Accounts Production, complete the following steps.
- On the left panel, click Banking > Dext Prepare.
- The Dext Prepare Feeds page appears. It shows the feeds received from Dext Prepare.
- You can now process the feeds and move it from the Loaded status. To do that, double-click on the required row.
The Dext Prepare option is not available until you integrate the Surf Accounts Production business from Dext Prepare. |
To refresh the page and load any feeds not received, click New. |

Surf Accounts Production now allows both Bookkeeping and Non-Bookkeeping clients to use Dext prepare and its functionalities to manage their Bank Feeds information published from Dext.
Bookkeeping Clients
You can access Surf Accounts Production now to manage all the Bank Feeds information that are published from Dext by going through the following steps.
- Click Banking > Dext Prepare on the left panel for your selected Client. This is to be noted that the client details has to be connected with Dext and the Bank Feed published for the same to be able to view it under Surf Accounts Production.
- If a feed is connected to Dext, then the New button remains enabled, otherwise it remains disabled. The Dext Prepare Feed shows you the existing Feeds and their status. You can set up Dext Prepare by connecting to it. To see how, click here.
- The feed gives you the options of Printing, Deleting or Opening the log.
- If you click on the Feed , the detailed description on the same opens. It is to be noted that when you open a log, all the information is similar to the page when a New Dext Prepare Feed is to be added. At the top you can view details like Import Date, Imported By, Status of the Feed, Total Number of Transactions, Purchase Invoice Total, Payments Total and Sales Invoice Total.
- You can select transactions using the checkbox and click View/Split.
- You can see the detailed breakup on the left side and on the right side you can Add or Delete rows. The Cancel button redirects you to the previous page and the Save button lets you save the changes. Click Save & Next to seamlessly move on to the next invoice.
- To declare set rules for the invoices, click Make Rule.
- You can only modify the Supplier Code and Set Analysis Code To fields in the Dext Prepare Import Rule window and click OK.
- To edit the Dext Prepare Feed items, click Edit.
- In the Edit Dext Prepare Feed window, you can modify the fields as per your requirement. To remove checks from the selected lines, select the checkbox Untick Selected Lines and click Save.
The Delete button lets you remove selected item. The Close button lets you close the opened Dext Prepare Feed.
- Once all the modifications are completed, click Import to import the feed. Read the confirmation message carefully and click Yes, to import the same.
- Click Print to view printing options for the feed you are importing.
- The Dext Prepare Import Report page appears which allows you to Print, Save, Email, Run or turn the report into an Excel file.
- If you click Print, the preview is opened which lets you print the same.
- Click Excel to download the report as an Excel file.
- Click Email to send the report to the registered email address for the client.
- Click Save to save the report.
- If you click New and no transaction is published from Dext, then the below message is displayed.
- To delete a feed, click Delete.
- Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Non-Bookkeeping Clients
You can access Surf Accounts Production now to manage all the Bank Feeds information that are published from Dext by going through the following steps for Non-Bookeeping Clients. This is a new update that has been introduces which lets even clients that are non-bookkeeping to keep a track o of their Bank Feeds. The only concern is that the Bank account needs to be connected to Dext for this to be processed. You can also see absence of a Customer/Supplier or Vat Code.
- Click Banking > Dext Prepare on the left panel for your selected Client. This is to be noted that the client details has to be connected with Dext and the Bank Feed published for the same to be able to view it under Surf Accounts Production.
- If a feed is connected to Dext, then the New button remains enabled, otherwise it remains disabled. The Dext Prepare Feed shows you the existing Feeds and their status. You can set up Dext Prepare by connecting to it. To see how, click here.
